This week, several pirate-themed costume parties were hosted for our year-1 students, bringing English learning to life with adventure! Each child dressed as a pirate, complete with eye patches and pirate hats.
The main activity was a description exercise, where kids followed had to describe their own outfits. Along the way, they learned pirate words like “hook hand”, “wooden leg” and “treasure.” There was also a game where children had to trade with other pirates to complete their treasure lists!
As teachers, we really enjoyed watching the kids’ confidence and vocabulary grow. Events like this made English practice fun for everyone involved.
